Children are a vital part of our church family. We partner with parents to help kids know God’s Word, live like Jesus, and grow as His disciples in safe, engaging, and faith-building environments.

What to expect on Sundays

When you arrive, our Kids Check-In team will help you register your child and provide matching security tags for check-in and pickup.

Infants and preschoolers can go directly to their classrooms, while children in JK–Grade 5 join their families for worship before being dismissed to age-appropriate Sunday School classes where they’ll learn and grow in God’s Word.

Nursery & Preschool

(Ages 0–4)

Nursery (Ages 0–2)

A nurturing and prayerful space for babies and young toddlers. Our volunteers provide gentle care, pray over each child, and offer safe, supervised play.

Preschool (Ages 2–4)

A joyful, active environment where children engage in simple Bible lessons, songs, crafts, and play designed for their stage of development.

After worship, children are guided to their classrooms for a time designed just for them.

Each class includes:

  • Bible teaching that is clear and age-appropriate
  • Hands-on activities and crafts
  • Allergy aware snacks and water
  • Caring volunteers who are invested in their growth

Your child’s safety is a priority to us.

  • Volunteers are screened and trained

  • Volunteers are background checked and re-screened regularly

  • Rooms and toys are cleaned regularly

  • Allergy awareness is maintained for all snacks

  • If your child is unwell, we ask that they remain with you until symptom-free

Special Needs Support

Caring for every child

We want every child to feel known, supported, and included.

If your child has special needs, we offer additional care through trained volunteers. We encourage you to reach out to our Children’s Ministry Director, Olivia, ahead of your visit so we can best serve your child and family.

We practise parent commissioning rather than baby dedication, recognizing that God has entrusted parents with the responsibility to lead their children in faith.

Serving in the Children's Ministry is an opportunity to invest in the next generation and help children grow in their understanding of who God is.

Whether you’re leading a group, helping with check-in, or supporting behind the scenes, every role matters.

All volunteers are trained, screened, and have attended Living Hope Church regularly for a minimum of six months.

FAQ

We welcome little ones from newborns through Grade 5!

Students in Grade 6 and up stay upstairs with their parents during the service. They're invited to join our Youth Group (link to Youth page) on Tuesday nights, and we provide clipboards with sermon notes (available near the parking lot entrance) to help tweens and teens follow along with the message.

You'll find check-in kiosks at the parking lot entrance and just outside our nursery downstairs. If it's your first time, we'd love to meet you — just let us know!

Of course! You’re welcome to stay with your child until they’re comfortable, or you’re welcome to keep them with you in the service if you prefer.

We use a curriculum called The Gospel Project, which walks kids through the big story of the Bible and shows how every part points to Jesus. Each class is designed to be developmentally appropriate, and over three years, we journey through the entire Bible — from Genesis to Revelation.

We understand that trusting someone with your child is a big deal. At Living Hope, every volunteer is carefully selected — adults must attend Living Hope for at least six months before applying to volunteer, complete a background check, and be fully trained under our Protection Policy. Youth volunteers also meet all the same requirements, minus the background check.

Rooms, toys, and equipment are cleaned regularly, and we follow a secure check-in and check-out process to keep every child safe. We’re committed to creating a space where both you and your child can feel at ease.

We know allergies can be super scary — and we're here to help!

The best thing you can do is let us know. Please fill out our registration form (link to pre register kids) and list any allergies under the "Medical Needs" section.

At check-in, your child's allergy information will print clearly on their name tag, and our volunteers are trained to double-check before offering any snacks.

Our facility is nut-aware: all of our Sunday school snacks are nut-free, and we adapt snack options to fit the allergy needs in each classroom. As a result, many of our classes are already nut-free, dairy-free, and gluten-free.

If your child has unique or additional allergy needs, please email our Children's Ministry Director (olivia@livinghopechurch.ca)  — we'd be more than happy to work with you to create a plan that keeps your child safe.

We know every child is unique, and a one-size-fits-all approach doesn't work. We'd love to connect with you personally to develop a plan that best supports your child's needs and helps your whole family feel welcomed, included, and able to get involved at Living Hope.

You’ll never be far if your child needs you!

If your child is in Nursery or Preschool, their security number will flash on the number boards in the auditorium.

For children of any age, we'll also try to reach you by text. If we’re unable to connect by phone, one of our greeters will personally find you and bring you to your child — quickly and discreetly.
